Your first deposit plays an important role in our identity verification process when opening your account. For this reason, your initial deposit must meet the following requirements:

• The transfer must come from a licensed bank.
• The sending account must be in your name.
• If you're opening an account with Swissquote Bank Ltd (our Swiss entity), there is no minimum initial deposit requirement for Swiss residents. Non-residents must deposit at least the following amount:
  • EUR 500 (or equivalent) if based in the euro area: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal or Spain
  • CHF 500 (or equivalent) for all other countries.

Once we've processed and approved your initial deposit, these specific limitations will no longer apply to future deposits.

Absolutely! You can open your bank, trading and investment account online in about 10 minutes. While you're welcome to sign up through any web browser on your computer or tablet, we recommend using the Swissquote mobile app for the smoothest experience.

To transfer securities to your Swissquote account, send an instruction letter (Transfer order form) to your current bank, requesting a transfer to your Swissquote IBAN.

Securities transfers to your Swissquote account are free of charge. 

Please note that we do not provide custodian information to clients.

Updating the Unit Cost

For us to update the unit cost of your transferred securities, please send us a copy of an official bank statement showing the original purchase price.

You can upload documents via the contact form or through 'My Account' (profile icon in the top-right menu) > 'Messages' > 'New message'.

Opening your Swissquote bank account is straightforward. Here's what you'll need:

• A valid ID: either a passport or national ID card
• Proof of address: a recent utility bill (electricity, water, phone, or internet) dated within the last 6 months works perfectly. A tax statement or official residence certificate from your local authority are also accepted.
• A device with a camera: you'll need this for identity verification. A smartphone tends to work best, but a tablet or computer with a webcam will do.

Once we review your application and notify you that your account is set up, you'll need to make an initial deposit to activate it. This deposit must come from a bank account held in your name (excluding Wise accounts). Requirements for the first deposit depend on your country of residence:

• Swiss residents: No minimum amount. The deposit must come from Switzerland or one of the countries listed below.
• Eurozone residents*: Minimum EUR 500 (or equivalent). The deposit must come from a bank account in your country of residence.
• All other countries: Minimum CHF 500 (or equivalent). The deposit must come from a bank account in your country of residence.
