Scam, but not scary

What your phishing radar should look out for

Phishing may be a shape-shifter, but knowing what to expect can equip you to keep it at bay. Usually, phishers want to obtain access to your account, know your card details or trick you into installing spyware through a malicious link or attachment. To do this, they may reproduce Swissquote emails, web pages or documents, and contact you impersonating the bank.

The following scenarios should ring your alarm bells

Dodgy-looking replicated Swissquote web pages, emails or documents. Look for these signs:

  • Web domains other than Swissquote’s official ones*
  • Distorted Swissquote logos or low quality content
  • Inaccurate or suspicious email address
  • An abnormal abundance of typos or poor grammar
  • A communication in a language other than the one set in your Swissquote account
  • Links to disclose personal data or account details
  • Unrequested emails, phone calls, SMS or private messages from a source posing as Swissquote
  • Suspicious email attachments requesting that you install potentially malicious software or make a payment
  • Invitations to invest in wonder financial products
  • Requests to transfer your money with the promise to receive a larger amount in return
  • Demands to unblock your account, to change your account credentials or to unsubscribe from an offer

*Swissquote’s official domains are: trade.swissquote.ch, trade.swissquote.co.uk, inx.swissquote.eu, trade.swissquote.cy, swissquote.ch, swissquote.com, swissquote.info, swissquote.ae, swissquote.co.uk, swissquote.sg, swissquote.lu, swissquote.eu, swissquoteasia.com

In all cases, remember that Swissquote will never contact you by phone, email or SMS to ask you to disclose your account credentials or card details. Likewise, we don’t send emails with links to login pages.

Stay one step ahead of phishing

There’s no such thing as too much protection for your money. Here are some additional tips to prevent frauds.

In general, be sceptical of claims of instant returns or high yield with no risk, and keep in mind that being pressured to make a decision quickly is usually a red flag. Remember to never fill in any page or form you may be redirected to with your account credentials, card details, or other sensitive information.

In all cases, if you suspect you have been a victim of fraud, we recommend you to change your password immediately.
