Topic of the day

YETI Holdings expects its growth to continue in the years ahead as it looks to expand its product portfolio and international presence. The cooler and drinkware maker on Thursday said it is targeting annual net sales growth in the mid-single to high-single digits through fiscal 2030, with annual growth for adjusted earnings per share at a low-double-digit to high-teens rate. Yeti also backed the fiscal 2026 outlook it provided last month, guiding for sales growth of 7% to 8% on adjusted earnings per share of $2.94 to $3 for this year. The company said it is taking a multipronged approach to keep up its growth, focusing on new products and its international business while fine-tuning its commercialization strategy in the U.S. Yeti has been contending with competitive pressure in its drinkware business lately, with trendy brands like Owala and Stanley dragging on demand for its insulated water bottles. “We believe Yeti is well positioned to expand what we build, where we sell it and how far our brand can travel,” Chief Executive Matt Reintjes said. “The capabilities beneath the business are stronger, the playbook is clearer and the opportunity is broader,” he said.

International markets

Europe
European stocks closed higher on Thursday as falling oil prices and lower bond yields following a 25-basis point interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve and the increased trust in the U.S. central bank's resolve to bring inflation under control lifted sentiment. The Bank of England has left its interest rate unchanged at 3.75%, in line with expectations, for the sixth time in a row. Three out of nine Monetary Policy Committee members backed a 25 basis points hike to push policy rates to 4%. The pan European Stoxx 600 climbed 0.86%. The UK's FTSE 100 gained 1.19%, Germany's DAX moved up 0.7% and France's CAC 40 ended 0.57% up. Switzerland's SMI also ended with a gain of 0.57%. Among other markets in Europe, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Turkiye closed on strong note. United States
U.S. stocks recouped some of their recent losses as oil prices stabilized and confidence grew in the Federal Reserve's ability to contain inflation. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 316.14 points, or 0.61%, to 51778.04. The S&P 500 gained 85.95 points, or 1.14%, to 7637.76 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite added 439.87 points, or 1.69%, to 26418.30. Comfort with Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh's strategy and hopes for a rapid return of Saudi oil to market tamed inflation concerns and crude futures. Oil futures declined 52 cents to $101.91 a barrel. Still, the risk of energy inflation loomed large as a prominent commodities strategist at JPMorgan warned it was becoming increasingly difficult to predict the course of the Middle East war and its effect on oil prices. Shares of private-equity firms rose slightly but remained under pressure as executives warned that higher interest rates may perpetuate a phenomenon of "zombie funds." When companies purchased via buyout funds cannot be sold on, investor capital languishes in such funds for years. Shares of Blackstone rose 1.6% to $125.41, but are 19% lower this year. Apollo Global shares added 1.2% to $126, but are down by 13% in 2026. Mastercard launched an artificial-intelligence payment option for everyday purchases, partnering with the startup Alchemy to allow consumers to set up AI agents for online shopping. Shares ticked down 0.4% to $565.73.

Among others, Kioxia is up 8 per cent, Advantest 7.3 per cent, Lasertec 9 per cent and SoftBank Group 3.4 per cent. The broader Topix index gained 0.1 per cent. As expected, the Bank of Japan raised its key interest rate by a quarter of a percentage point to 1.25 per cent.
